Compact Substation

Compact Substation (CSS)

Integrated HT, Transformer & LT Distribution in One Compact Solution

A Compact Substation (CSS) is a factory-assembled, ready-to-install electrical unit that combines High Voltage (HT) switchgear, a distribution transformer, and a Low Voltage (LT) distribution panel within a single enclosed system.

It is designed to provide safe, reliable and efficient power distribution while occupying less space, making it suitable for urban infrastructure, industrial facilities, commercial installations and other space-constrained applications.

How Does a Compact Substation Work?

The Compact Substation receives electrical power at medium-voltage levels, typically 11 kV, 22 kV or 33 kV. The integrated distribution transformer steps down the incoming voltage to the required LT level, typically 415 V, after which the LT panel distributes the power to connected loads.

HT Supply → HT Switchgear → Transformer → LT Panel → End Users

The company profile specifies CSS solutions from 100 kVA to 3 MVA and voltage levels of 11 kV / 22 kV / 33 kV.

Why Choose Polarity Energy?

Polarity Energy Pvt. Ltd. provides electrical power and distribution solutions covering transformers, compact substations, electrical control panels, and voltage stabilizer installation services.

Three Main Compartments

HT Compartment

The HT compartment handles incoming medium-voltage power and can include:
  • RMU / LBS / VCB
  • Load Break Switch
  • HT Fuses
  • Lightning Arresters

Transformer Compartment

The transformer section steps down the incoming HT supply to the required LT voltage. It can include:
  • Oil-type or dry-type transformer
  • ONAN cooling for oil-type transformers
  • Buchholz relay
  • Pressure Relief Device (PRD)
  • Oil & Winding Temperature Indicator (OTI)

LT Compartment

The LT section distributes the transformed power to outgoing loads and can include:
  • PCC panel
  • ACB / MCCB
  • Outgoing feeders
  • APFC panel as an optional arrangement

These compartment configurations are described in the company profile.

Benefits of Compact Substation
